2.26.26 Tasting with Guillaume d'Angerville
Hold up—the MARQUIS is coming to Compline.
Guillaume d'Angerville leads one of the most storied estates in Burgundy, Volnay's Domaine Marquis d'Angerville. The first mention of the domaine is from a document from 1507—as the Domaine du Clos des Ducs—and it's been in the hands of the d'Angerville family for generations now. The domaine was on the forefront of domaine-bottling in the 1920s, and Guillaume's grandfather stood side-by-side with Henri Gouges to advocate for authenticity of origin and the AOC system in the 1930s.
Guillaume d'Angerville returned to the domaine after a successful career in banking when his father passed away in 2003. He presides over a collection of parcels in the most important cru vineyards in the village of Volnay, and he expanded his family holdings beyond Burgundy in 2014 with the purchase of Jacques Puffeney's vineyards in the Jura. The d'Angerville estate holdings in the Jura are now known as the Domaine du Pélican.
Join the Marquis himself for a guided, seated tasting of the 2023 vintage from both estates. He will be pouring:
