Shipping Policy

Where do we Ship and What does it Cost?

We offer ground shipping to many areas of the United States. We charge shipping rates based on total weight of your wine and your distance from Napa Valley, starting around $20. (Per bottle, the best rates we offer are for 6-packs and 12-packs!)

In California, please expect 3-7 days from the time of your order to delivery. 

We ship to all other states every Monday. Please allow 5-12 business days prior to the first delivery attempt.

We use a third-party specialist in wine shipping to help organize your shipment, and we will provide you with a tracking number (UPS or Fedex) via email once we receive it. We're sorry, but we cannot guarantee specific delivery dates. 

For all residential wine shipments, someone of legal drinking age (21+) must be home to sign for deliveries. We recommend providing a business shipping address whenever possible. We are not responsible for the temperature and condition of wine if the first delivery attempt is missed. If a wine is returned to us due to multiple missed delivery attempts, we will contact you to discuss options.


Safe Shipping in Summertime and Extreme Temperatures

We want your wines to arrive in delicious drinking condition! Therefore, we do not recommend ground shipping during times of extreme heat or cold, and we will notify you if your order falls within one of these periods. As a courtesy, we will hold shipments free of charge in our cellar-temperature wine shop until outdoor temperatures moderate.

If you want Compline Wine Shop to ship wines during periods of excessive high or low temperatures, we offer controlled-temperature shipping for an additional fee. Please select this option during checkout to take advantage of this service, which includes controlled-temperature regional transport and ice packs for the final mile.  

If we recommend a “hold” on shipping, we cannot guarantee that wines will arrive in proper condition, even when shipped with the additional controlled-temperature fee. We do not offer refunds on any wines shipped during a “hold” advisory. 


Refund and Replacement Policy on Wine Shipments

If a wine bottle is broken in transit by the third-party carrier, we will send a replacement bottle (if available) or refund the cost of the wine.

In these cases, we would greatly appreciate if you would email us a photograph of the damaged box, damaged bottle, and the tag on the box. (This helps us initiate a claim with the third-party carrier.)
