Vincent Charlot is based in the village of Mareuil, just to the west of Épernay. He takes a true artisan approach to making Champagne, fermenting each of his 39 biodynamically-farmed parcels individually and letting the vin clairs rest in barrel for about 9 months à la Krug and Philipponnat. “La Fruit de ma Passion” is his entry-level bottling, and what an introduction it is. Full of leafy, fall flavors- pinecone and bruised apple and sweet brioche and baking spice. It really unfurls with a little time in glass, which makes sense given the Burgundian approach to winemaking. A steal!
