Riccardo purchased Le Ragnaie in 2002, and the estate’s star has steadily risen under his direction. Situated near the highest point in the appellation—the Passo del Lume Spento, or “Pass of the Extinguished Lantern”—the estate’s high-elevation vineyards were once considered marginal but are now prized for producing Brunello of remarkable freshness and elegance.
Riccardo is pouring three vintages of Brunello di Montalcino, including beautifully mature wines from 2009 and 2011, and a single-vineyard bottling from Montosoli, one of the appellation’s most celebrated crus.
