Savoy Vineyard is a wild and magical place, described by one winemaker as where the Pacific Northwest meets California. It’s probably the most northernly-situated vineyard site of any renown in California, and to stand in it feels remote and otherworldly. Originally planted by Rich Savoy in the early 1990s, Savoy has been the stomping ground for many of the most famous names in California for Pinot Noir, from Littorai to Drew to Williams Selyem. Ehren Jordan of Failla is also among that group, and the grapes he receives from it are planted via selection massale between a variety of clones to give a full representation of the scope of the vineyard. On the richer, darker end of Pinot noir, balanced by an herbal savagery.
