Côtes du Roussillon Blanc, Paul Meunier "Les Chorèmes" 2018

Paul Meunier grew up in Burgundy but developed his own label in the Mediterranean backwaters of Roussillon, known mostly for vin doux like Maury, Rivesaltes, and Banyuls. He took over the former town cooperative in the village of Centernach and produced his first vintage in 2014, implementing organic and biodynamic viticulture in his vineyards.

What makes a wine region truly great is being able to produce wines that couldn’t be made anywhere else. This Macabeo and Grenache Blanc and Gris blend is distinctively Mediterranean, smelling more of olive oil and wild herbs than any fruit. It’s unctuous, fierce, and downright delicious. Serve with the local classic bourride, a monkfish stew with leeks, carrots, and celery.
