Colli di Luni - Vermentino, Ottaviano Lambruschi "Costa Marina" 2023

One of the main joys of wine is its ability to transport, to take a mental vacation while envisioning the place where the vines yielding the grapes yielding the wine in front of you were grown. We were introduced to Ottaviano Lambruschi during one of the COVID lockdowns, so the wines were especially evocative. Picture this- steep cliffs, wild herbs, rugged shoreline. That’s the wine in a nutshell- salty, stony, and textural, with lip-smacking acidity. From a single vineyard in reddish clay. Liguria is the home of pesto, and we can’t think of a more appropriate pairing.
