Chassagne-Montrachet, Vincent & Sophie Morey “Vieilles Vignes” 2020
Morey is a common name in Burgundy, with many different branches involved in wine production. Vincent is the son of Bernard and brother of Thomas, both of whom have wine under their own names. His wife Sophie also comes from a winemaking family based in Santenay, and the two joined forces in 2006.
Their old vine Chassagne-Montrachet comes from a 1.5 acre parcel close to the border with Puligny. It sees 40% new oak and is a big, strapping style of Chardonnay, but with an underlying Burgundian biscuit-y quality and an appealing white flower element.
