Many sommeliers try to make the switch to winemaking, but few pull that transition off as seamlessly as Morgen Long. His Eola-Amity Hills bottling comes from two iconic vineyards, Seven Springs and X Omni, and was made by blending exactly one barrel from each vineyard. Winemaking is straight out of Roulot’s playbook- brown and oxidated at first, dogmatically topped and reductive later. The result is a Chardonnay that’s both fleshy and ripe but also bristling with acidity and citric bitterness.
