Les Cras is a lieu-dit that’s split in two. The part in the middle of the limestone escarpment that defines Burgundy’s Côte d’Or is a Premier Cru site, whereas the slightly higher-lying part to the west is cannot use that designation. It’s to our benefit, though, as this wine would cost a whole lot more if it was a few meters downslope.
This displays the beguiling aromatics of truly great Burgundy, and while it’s sturdy, strong, and tight now, it’s outstanding with a long decant or a few years in a cellar.
