Along the undulating banks of the Umia River in the Val do Salnés subzone of Rias Baixas is where you can find the world’s greatest Albariño. The weathered granite soils here produce wines of richness, intensity, and age-worthiness. Eulogio Pomares is the 7th generation proprietor of Zarate, and his pursuit of perfection has led to some incomparable single-vineyard wines but also a charismatic and racy blend of younger vines (although in this case they still average over 35 years of age). Serve with langoustines lathered in chili oil and herbs.
