Much of the Trebbiano coming out of Abruzzo is Trebbiano Toscano, but Ciavolich shows how the highly prized Trebbiano Abruzzese can shine. Fermented in a mixture of terra cotta amphorae, Slavonian oak, and stainless steel, their Fosso Cancelli bottling is richly textured and evocative of autumn- pumpkin spice, bitter honey, and yellow stone fruit. Simply outstanding.
