Gustavo Sotelo’s day job is making wines for Scribe. For his passion project, he and his wife Jackie pay homage to his Spanish heritage (his last name is a town in Galicia), seeking out Spanish varieties across California.
”Tinta Alta” is an ode to the many synonyms of Tempranillo found across Spain and Portugal, and also the historic name of Alta California. 75% comes from Shake Ridge vineyard in Amador county, the rest from Stagecoach Vineyard on Atlas Peak. High elevation Tempranillo made in an old-school way.
