One would think a child growing up in Beaune in a family growing grapes would naturally end up as a winemaker, but it wasn’t so straightforward for Agnès Paquet. She intended to go into the world of business but her days at university became filled with the flow of wine. Right around that time her parents were bandying about the idea of selling their vines, and a panicked young Agnès intervened and became the steward of the vines.
Her 2019 Auxey-Duresses is muscular and tightly wound in its youth, with a stash of great red Burgundy hiding under the blankets. A fabulous entryway to village wines in the Côte d’Or.
